The awards, held on November 4 at Crown Palladium Ballroom, recognise excellence in design, construction and installation of housing. The awards were announced before a crowd of hundreds of industry leaders and peers from across Victoria.

The Highton home; designed by Signature Homes architect, Daniel van den Ham was designed to wrap around a luxurious outdoor pool so the water laps against the residence. Upon opening the door to this home your eyes are instantly drawn to the glistening water. The clever custom design has achieved a pool view not only from the front entry but from the kitchen, dining, and lounge, passage, master bedroom and ensuite. A totally tranquil feeling; once you have entered the home it is like being in your own private oasis.

Warm smoked American Oak timber floors invite you down the passage and into the dining and lounge area. Transitioning seamlessly to polished concrete to the kitchen and services wing. The flush floor finish between the spaces posed a degree of difficulty during construction but was executed to perfection.
The kitchen is a chef’s dream. Not only visually appealing, the sleek white kitchen has been so practically designed. Gloss 2 pack polyurethane finish cabinets with 80mm Santorini Quartz Based Absolute Blanc stone benchtops finished with a non-intrusive white splashback. This all white look allows for a range of possible options for décor and styling allowing the owners ideas & personality as an interior designer to shine through.
All drawers and doors are fitted with soft-close hinges or touch latch runners. The functionality was so well planned out, designed to suit dirty dishes progressing from separate rubbish, recycle and even compost bins moving to the sink and straight to the integrated dishwasher. Equipped with the very latest in appliances, the double wall oven tower facilitates no bending. The kitchen even includes integrated refrigerator drawers to the island bench positioned to service the outdoor alfresco area.
Adjoining the kitchen is the butler’s pantry, fitted out with stainless steel benchtops, double bowl sink, custom joinery and open shelves the space is ideal for food preparation.
Natural light beams from above in the kitchen area with two Velux flat roof windows. The design also incorporated extensive north facing glazing to the dining with double sliding doors bringing in so much warmth on a cold winters morning with stunning views looking across Geelong.
This custom home is coherent to current design trends. A huge link between indoors and out has been achieved by a corner stacker door unit, from the kitchen, dining and lounge area opening onto the alfresco & pool space. Completely opening up the home, entertaining is made so much simpler this way and it automatically enhances the functionality of the home.
The polished concrete area also includes a services wing with the laundry and powder room close by. This allows guests to come in directly from the pool and use the bathroom without trekking water throughout the home. The powder room is really a showcase of art and something you would expect at Crown five star hotel. The timber veneer joinery with aluminium 3D Titanium up/down feature tiles floor to ceiling on the wing wall, basin tapware mounted through the mirror with a pendant light to highlight the space.
This custom built home is a masterpiece of small minor detail like the square set windows and P50 detail to doors. All of these things sometimes unnoticed individually but teamed together they create an overall impact.
Back to the master bedroom, ensuite and walk in robe space; elevated and prestigious in design both the ensuite and master bedroom have corner butt glazed windows overlooking the pool and other spaces. Our client can relax in the freestanding bath or read a book in their room whilst enjoying truly serene surroundings.
