This stunning Torquay custom home stands tall within its prime coastal location.
Thermally modified plantation timber on the grand floor exterior seamlessly integrates the Smartech flush finish tilt garage door for an uninterrupted façade. The natural weathered timber teamed with a white render is finished with contrasting bold metal louvered screens and balcony cover.
Architecture and Build Considerations
This knock down rebuild project initially started as a single story downsize however, with double story homes either side, our clients brief altered in keeping with existing streetscape. Signature Homes’ in-house architect visited the site with clients, interpreting their ideas, understanding how they would like to live and taking note of the key features from the site. The client’s lifestyle combined with ideas such as maintaining some of the existing trees, started to shape the design.
Our client wished for a four-bedroom home, each serviced by their own ensuites and walk in robes. Capturing the northerly orientation and providing an outdoor living space which could be utilised during all climates was a priority.
The Resulting Design
The clever design allows for 4200mm ceilings to the main living areas, highlight windows to the kitchen and parallel highlight windows to the living space, delivering an abundance of natural light and an airy feeling of pure openness.
Two grand 4.8-metre-wide commercial sliding doors to the kitchen and living area open out to the alfresco which includes a vergola over this space. The vergola is a complete operable louvre roof, and creates the ultimate outdoor environment all year round. Operated by remote, the Vergola roof can control sunlight and airflow; perfect for this outdoor entertaining haven. The energy-efficient Vergola has added incredible value to the home.
A unique unseen feature of this home is the heating and cooling system. We have utilised the world’s most innovative heating and cooling system – AirSmart known as the Indoor Environment System (IES). This system redefines air purification and climate comfort.
